Paper Piecing

Today I want to share with you a card that I made for my local scrapbook store.  It uses a new image from Penny Black.  I stamped the image with Memento Black ink.  Memento ink is really the only ink I use when I plan to color with Copic Markers.  I colored all the skin on both images as well as the hair, red hearts and shoes with Copics.  I went over the shoes and hearts with At You Spica Copic markers to add that glittery shine.

I paper pieced the umbrella, dress, pants and shirt on this image.  If you cut essentially on the line when you are cutting out the pieces, they will fit together nicely.  I also used a Quick Stick Tool  and quickie glue pen that both come in handy when paper piecing.

I have also been making quite a bit of jewelry lately to sell at my local craft store, at an antique store, and on my Etsy Site

Today, I will show you a pair of earrings that I made for my daughter who is a waitress at a local restaurant/bar.  It uses old bottle caps - I thought beer bottle caps were fitting for this - and digital images and glossy accents.  I pierced holes in the caps and added jewelry hardware and there ya go.  I still have some bugs to work out but I like them.  I will also show you a pair of earrings I made out of scrabble tiles, digital art, and glossy accents.

I find that after I cut out the digital images, if I ink around the edges it gives them nice definition.  It is hard to punch those holes in the bottle caps - I use my cropodile for this but the glossy accents has to be completely dry so it doesn't dent it.  It's also very easy to punch too close to the edge and wreck them that way.

I hope everyone has a great week!

Starting Simplie

I have always loved crafting and being creative, but now is the time to really put things into action.

I am a design team member for VIP scrapbooking and really enjoy creating new and exciting displays for the store.

I have decided to use this blog to share my projects and my ideas and I hope everything will tie together to make this new venture in my life successful.
